PROJECTS
Since 2020, we have published books and magazines, filmed dozens of
live performances, created music videos, and produced community
events—all powered by volunteers and supported by our community.
Publications
La Palette (2025)
On the eve of La Palette’s 25th anniversary, co-founder’s Rashid
Mohiddin and Celeste Ganon, as well as award-winning journalist
Bill Taylor, editor Lesley Ciarula Taylor and designer Valentin
Tsatskin made a 204-page full-colour love letter to our favourite
restaurant/clubhouse. Replete with over 70 original submissions
combining decades of stories and wisdom, the La Palette book is a
treasure to behold. Published in November of 2025.
Craving (2025)
Inspired by vampiric lore, co-founder Celeste Ganon proposed
craving as the next theme for our annual community
magazine. Co-founder Rashid Mohiddin and Valentin Tsatskin joined
to help and we made a 138-page full-colour magazine that we
published in October of 2025. Yet again there were over 50
original submissions from the community.
Rest (2024)
With yet another winter on the horizon, co-founders Rashid
Mohiddin and Celeste Ganon, with Valentin Tsatskin made a
community magazine framed around the intertwined themes of rest
and hibernation. Much like Togetherness and
noise, rest relied on community submissions,
with over 50 original pieces of storytelling and art. Published in
November of 2024, rest is 144 pages, full colour.
Noise (2023)
Due to the success of Togetherness, co-founders Rashid
Mohiddin and Celeste Ganon returned to their original dreams and
made a full community arts magazine. Accompanied by designer and
editor Valentin Tsatskin, the magazine is 108 pages, full colour,
with over 40 original submissions from members of the community.
Framed around the central theme of "noise", the magazine was
published in February of 2023.
Togetherness (2022)
Inspired by the vibrancy of our multicultural arts community,
co-founders Rashid Mohiddin and Celeste Ganon as well as editor
Ilinca Stafie compiled a 64-page full colour booklet of
storytelling, poetry, visual art and photography. This was our
first community book that opened the door to community submissions
with an open call for content. Published in February 2022.
Covid Quandary (2021)
As the global pandemic deepened, and countless local restaurants,
bars and cafes were forced to close, DAC co-founders Rashid
Mohiddin and Celeste Ganon made a 140-page black and white book
about the essential importance of third places in modern society,
framed through Drom Taberna and La Palette. Published in February
2021.
Julia Poetry (2021)
Local artist julia-marcello approached DAC to co-produce a
short-run of a 32-page full colour poetry/photography collection
called "It was an uncertain spring". Published in January
of 2021.
Gulyas Poetry (2020)
Inspired by travel writers and poets, Drom Publications co-founder
David Gulyas and Rashid Mohiddin made a poetry collection with
handwritten notes and old black and white photographs. Published
in July of 2020.
To Serve and Protect (2020)
Motivated by the worldwide protests against police brutality, DAC
co-founders Rashid Mohiddin and Celeste Ganon made a 72-page
illustrated booklet about the history of the police, seeking to
understand: why they exist. The first edition was
published in July 2020, and sold out by October 2020. The second
edition sold out earlier this year.
Video Productions
Music Video Series (2021)
In the summer of 2021, DAC co-founders Rashid Mohiddin and Celeste
Ganon were joined by videographers Devin Loran and Conrad Gluch,
as well as editor and set-designer Jack Considine to film five
high quality artistic music videos.
Interview Series Season 1 (2022)
In January of 2022, co-founder Rashid Mohiddin and videographer
Conrad Gluch conducted 5 interviews with local musicians at Drom
Taberna, seeking to understand and appreciate the journey they had
taken to the stage in front of us. All 5 interviews are
approximately 40 minutes long, and on our YouTube channel.
Interview Series Season 2
Inspired by the success of season 1, Conrad Gluch and Rashid
Mohiddin conducted a further 5 interviews, with Fethi Nadjem, Max
Senitt, Charlotte McAfee-Brunner, Donne Roberts and Rebekah
Hawker. Rashid devised a new approach to the series, emphasizing
live performances as well as the interview, creating a 60-minute
long interview, broken into three parts, at 20 minutes each. Due
to shifting priorities the other four interviews remain
unpublished.
Live Music Video Series (2022–Present)
Starting in the spring of 2022, inspired by
La Blogoteque style videos, DAC co-founder Rashid
Mohiddin and videographer Camille Neirynck-Guerrero filmed dozens
of live performances throughout Kensington Market and Queen West.
The particular focus was on performances at Pedestrian Sunday
events in Kensington, aiming to capture local legends as well as
internationally renowned bands, as well as performances at the
Cameron House.
Live Events
Interdisciplinary Arts Events (2024–2025)
Starting in the fall of 2024, with an initial investment of
$5,000, DAC produced five live music events centred on the
interconnected multicultural arts scene. These events were
dedicated to interdisciplinary art forms, including live music,
performance art, visual art, and dance. Following the success of
the first event at Revival in October 2024, DAC reinvested its
resources to produce additional events.
- Revival — October 2024
- Division 88 — January 2025
- Division 88 — June, July, August 2025
Monthly Reel Series (Fall 2023–Present)
In the fall of 2023, working with an initial monthly budget of
$500, DAC began producing a monthly Instagram reel series
showcasing live performances at DROM Taberna, with a focus on
highlighting the diverse talent featured on the stage.
